About Our Co-Mediation Program
The Co-Mediation Program at ADR Services, Inc. provides families and their attorneys with the opportunity to resolve their probate, estates and trusts disputes with a team of two highly-experienced neutrals. Our Co-Mediation panel includes Hon. Craig D. Karlan (Ret.), who has over 20 years of judicial experience as a Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court, and Carmen Alberio, Esq., who served as a Probate Attorney for the Los Angeles Superior Court for 36 years. Together, they are committed to jointly helping families resolve disputes in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
About Hon. Craig D. Karlan (Ret.)
- Over 20 years as a Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
- Served as the West District Probate Judge for eight years.
- Demonstrated extraordinary acumen while navigating complicated high-net-worth probate cases involving complex financial issues and emotionally charged familial dynamics.
- Presided over hundreds of settlement conferences in nearly every type of civil action, including probate.
About Carmen Alberio, Esq.
- Recognized expert in the field of Probate, Estates and Trusts law, with 36 years of experience as a Probate Attorney for the Los Angeles Superior Court.
- Extensive experience in handling complex contested matters in the areas of wills, trusts, estate administration, conservatorships, guardianships, elder abuse claims, and special needs trusts.
- Recipient of numerous awards in recognition of her contributions to Probate law, including the 2021 Arthur K. Marshall Award from the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Section.
- Two-time winner of the prestigious Timothy A. Whitehouse Award from the Beverly Hills Bar Association, in 2003 and 2022.
